Completed Bluebird

Image
I completed the bluebird as well.  The best part is, when I gave them to my daughter she really seemed to like them.  I love the blue of this glass.  This is the first time I added a wire along the outside solder line of a piece.  I think this one turned out nice.

Cardinal Completed (3rd project)

Today I completed the cardinal sun catcher.  The first time I worked the wire hook into the solder lines.  The solder lines are shinier in real life than they appear in this picture.

Ready to Solder

After not being able to work on stained glass for the last three weeks, I finally have the problem piece remade.  I even have a piece of wire ready to solder on for hanging.  This will be my first try at that.

Two Steps Forward, One Step Back…

This morning I took some time to finish grinding all of the pieces for each of the birds.  After removing the vinyl pattern pieces and washing all of the glass, I tested the fit of the pieces.  I thought I was ready for foiling later this week.  Later, I pulled up the picture of my bluebird only to realize I made a mistake; somehow I didn’t notice that I accidentally picked white instead of blue for a body piece.   Since it is a piece with multiple curves, I guess it’s good practice when I recut it.  I think there may be a dove in my future as well .

I’m happy to share my finished squirrel.

Progress on the Cardinal

I am finally seeing some progress with my sun catchers.  The cardinal is ready for foiling.

Squirrel Progress

I'm happy to say, I'm almost done with this little guy.  He's actually not so little.  He's over 9" tall.  I need to solder the edges and then clean and polish him.  The brown glass I used is darker than I originally imagined using, but it's what I could find so here we are.  I had a little mishap or two with cutting/breaking the brown glass.  Luckily I had enough to complete him and the swirls in the glass ended up in the right places, even after having to reposition the pattern pieces.
